About Andrea Reynolds
Camp Caledon 1968

Location of my first speaking engagement:
Camp Caledon, Lake City Pennsylvania 1968.

I'm 74. I live in a 55+ community in a small condo, on the edge of a golf course in Sun City Center, Florida.

I had intended to return to Ontario Canada. Florida was not my original choice, but that's another story for another day. However, it's sunny and quiet, and many here call it Paradise. Despite many difficulties and obstacles, I'm getting used to being here. Most of my neighbors are retired with enough income to do all the things retirees like to do. None are likely to ever become my clients.

I work alone and have no staff. I have no debt, no mortgage, and am working toward becoming a minimalist... especially as I grow older. I have no heirs so it makes sense to reduce my tangible belongings now, rather than later. You may want to read my blog on Swedish Death Cleaning.

I have no significant overhead as I work from home, from poolside, and sometimes in my 2004 Ford E-350 camper van under the shade of a tree. My van, in its previous life, used to be the crew vehicle for a hot air balloonist. There's a hydraulic lift on the back meant for the gondola. Here's what it looks like:

I don't drink or smoke or use recreational drugs. I'd be boring if it weren't for the fact that advocating for speakers gives me enough challenges to make my life interesting. I like working with experts, specialists, and practitioners like physicians, surgeons, dentists, psychologists, attorneys, etc., and anyone who has found an area of expertise – a niche – that they share with others for financial compensation.

I no longer do any public speaking myself. I've arrived at that time in my life where it makes sense to pass along the wisdom gained from my 40+ years as a marketing consultant to experts, without having to appear in public. Thank goodness for the Internet. I guess you could say I've become a homebody... OK, a hermit.

I make very good Oatmeal Raisin Walnut Cookies, with quality ingredients. I'm likely to bring you some, freshly baked. Just tell me if you can't eat nuts or raisins... although who doesn't like raisins?

In 2013, I bought for
$99 a little two-bedroom, 99-year-old bungalow, which was across the street from my former house in Erie, Pennsylvania. I renovated and sold it (the bungalow) in 2019, after using it as an income source for hosting guests. This was Authors Guest House.

A little about my past career:

I
hosted talk radio and appeared as a guest expert on countless radio shows including CBC's "Morningside" with Peter Gzowski, and "Basic Black" with Arthur Black. I appeared as a guest expert on "Frost Over Canada" hosted by British interviewer Sir David Frost and appeared multiple times on "Breakfast Television", "Shirley", "The Dini Petty Show," and 4 programs on the Life Network.

I have authored numerous handbooks, manuals, reports, and booklets; published 5 newsletters; written for national magazines and newspapers; led seminars; and addressed many professional and business associations in the United States and Canada.

An outspoken critic, I've been quoted in many periodicals:
Time, USA Today, The Globe and Mail, The National Post, The Korea Times, The Financial Post, Canadian Business, Canadian Living, and Sales and Marketing Management.

I've critiqued candidates for Canadian Prime Minister and Premier of Ontario for Canadian Press wire service,
The Toronto Star, The Toronto Sun and The Globe and Mail. My first book received a tongue-in-cheek Connie Award from Canadian Business Magazine "for outstanding contribution to Canadian Capitalism."
